Hello Doctor Norton,
Running an effective campaign on AdWords can be tricky because there are several important components:
- Keyword targeting
- Geographic area
- Selecting the correct landing pages
- Writing targeted copy
If you miss any of these steps, your campaign will either get no clicks at all OR you’ll end up paying for a bunch of clicks that don’t result in actual patients. The most common mistake chiropractors make is attempting to get as many clicks as possible. In reality, you don’t want a huge number of clicks — you want high quality clicks.
For instance, I regularly work with doctors who run successful PI clinics but target their AdWords campaigns so broadly that they end up getting a bunch of generic chiropractic clicks. When those people click on their advertisement and end up at a PI focused website, they assume they’re in the wrong place and immediate go back to Google. There are two problems here: first, they’re wasting a bunch of money and second, they’re lowering their quality score on Google, which actually increases their advertising rates.
I’m more than happy to help you out though! First, a few questions:
1. what kind of campaign were you running?
2. what was your average cost per click?
3. what was your total budget and duration of campaign?
