Keyword Optimization for Chiropractors
One of the most common questions we receive from clients is, "How do I rank #1 for the keyword
Chiropractor in my city?" There are a lot of factors that play into how Google ranks websites, and we talk about those in other parts of our
Beginner's Guide. But a bigger question is, "What keywords are my potential patients searching for?" Now, some people will know that they want a chiropractor and will search for one. But many people don't know that a chiropractor can help them with migraines or shoulder pain or sciatica. Because of this, it's important to think about other types of keywords that you can target besides, "
Chiropractor." Let's say you have a patient that's suffering from migraine. If you simply optimize your site for the primary keywords (chiropractic, chiropractor), this person with chronic migraines isn't even going to know about you or how you can help.
Long-Tail Keyword Optimization
And this is where the magic of the long-tail comes into play. The secret is to create content that is designed to target specific keywords or phrases. Studies show that 70% of search traffic comes from these less-common search terms! In this instance, where you want to target migraine patients, you'd create a page like this:
Migraine Treatment for Patients in Anaheim On this page, you'd discuss some of issues you've experienced when working with migraine sufferers and talk about how chiropractic can work as a solution. You'd mention that your office is conveniently located in Anaheim and that you'd be happy to answer questions my email or phone. If you have a patient you've helped with migraines, this would be the perfect time to get a quick testimonial and add that to the page. One of our
migraine videos would be great to include, or, even better, have your patient testimonial video on the page. If you're the only chiropractor in the area targeting migraine sufferers, you'll probably rank #1 within a week with a page like this. If you have more competition in your community, you might have to create multiple pages on migraines focusing on different topics to rank well.
Who's Your Ideal Patient?
To get the most out of this technique, think about your ideal patient and what kinds of searches they might perform to find answers to their health problems. By thinking like a patient, you'll be able to create content that helps, educates, and drives more traffic to your site. For more tips on getting the most out of your site, see our
