Help Patients and Your Practice with Your Website

A recent article by Health Care Communication News, "7 basics for creating great content on your health care website", highlights some great points that are perfect for your chiropractic website.

The content you present to your audience should be meaningful and reliable. Try not to lean too much on search engine optimization (SEO) and word counting when generating content. Depend on "what really matters"...the fundamentals!

7 Tips for Great Content on Your Chiropractic Website

1. Write in-depth and easy to read articles.

You can find inspiration from the MAYO CLINIC, MEDICINENET or WEBMD. There are seasoned writers who know how to capture the audience's attention. Copy their writing style then caption your title with headlines like “The Ultimate Guide to X” or “Everything You Need to Know about X.” Be sure to address your patient's needs with current information.

2. Write "evergreen" articles.

“Evergreen” means that a piece of content can be bookmarked today, and still be relevant years from now. Not every blog article needs to be a superior guide to something. Easier articles to digest that contain lighter information are valuable too.

3. Include visuals.

Writing is not the only venue for blog creation. In some cases, visual content—infographics, slideshows, and videos—is better. Not everyone likes to read or sift through wordy articles. Showing your audience can be just as effective.

4. Record podcasts.

Either visual or audio podcasts are great for multitasking readers. Many people can listen to your podcast while on the go, exercising or cleaning the house. Although you may think that this is expensive, it doesn't have to be if you do it right. More and more free editing software programs are included on your computer and phone!

5. Be consistent on your blog posts...regularly.

It doesn't matter if you blog once a week or once a month. With all the rapid health changes and scientific advances going on, it shouldn’t be too difficult to come up with new information. But, what's important is that you stay on the radar. Google WILL notice you if you are consistently adding valuable content to the world wide web.

6. Proofread before you post.

You may think that you're writing skills are better than the average person, however, every great author knows it's best to edit, edit, edit your work! You’d be surprised how many people forget to check for simple errors in spelling, grammar, and facts. Getting the tiniest details right goes a long way.

7. Share your work on social media.

Blogging to your website is great, but share your articles through your social networks as well. Place the first paragraph or two on your networks then link the rest of the story to the blog page on your website.

What This Means for You as a Chiropractor

You're busy. But, you need to make content.

Be patient.

Note that your great content won’t turn results immediately. You’ll soon see results after consistently creating, producing, and promoting strong material. It’s worth your while and efforts!
